Notes from the work

Field notes about the ideas and decisions shaping Verifable. These are not a status ledger or a promise calendar. Current capabilities and their evidence live on Facts.

Evidence can widen what people can imagine.

Evidence does more than settle what happened. Kept with its source, uncertainty and context, it gives people something they can reason with: a common ground from which different perspectives and better futures can emerge.

Verifable separates what is known from what is proposed. Veritas can hold the evidence graph and explore possible worlds without silently rewriting the record. A Wallet makes the person, organisation or agent able to act—and the boundary on that action—visible. What people choose can then return as the next sourced event.

Begin before every answer exists.

Most of the things already around us were not born with Digital Product Passports. A window may begin with a photograph and a place. A legacy battery may have a serial number but no dependable composition data. A recovered panel may be known only through the people who removed and inspected it.

That is enough to begin a continuing asset record. Keep observed facts distinct from claims, preserve unknowns, and let the record deepen through inspection, care, custody and reuse. If a regulated passport is issued later, link it as a distinct validated record instead of retroactively pretending the earlier record already was one.

One person. More than one context.

Personal and Business Wallet are not two unrelated products. Ideally they are contexts of the same person: acting for themselves, representing an organisation, or asking an agent to perform a bounded task. The Wallet is the window into the value chains where that person can know, communicate and act.

Credentials alone are not the end state. The useful experience shows who the person is acting as, what authority is active, what will be disclosed, what an agent may do and what consequence will be recorded before anything leaves the Wallet.

Protocols are choreography.

Circular systems require many small, inexpensive interactions: observe, repair, offer, inspect, authorise, move and record again. Agents are well suited to the repetitive work, provided identity, authority, evidence and consequence remain inspectable.

Open protocols let different organisations, wallets, databases and services follow the same choreography without surrendering ownership of their data or local context. That is how local loops can join global economies—and how useful knowledge can travel from one place to another without becoming a universal prescription.
